The run of three wins ended at home to Ashford United last Saturday. Ashford won 3-1 at the Bourne Stadium in front of 283. Diomande scored the Sevenoaks goal.

The win lifted Crowborough to seven points from seven games. They remain bottom of the 22-team division.

Rugby: 47-7 at Wimbledon, and four wins in a weekend

  • 1st XV: won 47-7 away at Wimbledon RFC
  • 2nd XV: beat Heathfield 26-21 at Knole Paddock
  • Under-16s: beat Old Colfeians 33-21
  • Under-18s: beat Gravesend 31-24

Director of Rugby Adam Bowman said the club’s discipline and defence pleased him most at Wimbledon. In his programme notes for Saturday’s home game, he gave these figures: (Sevenoaks RFC, From the Touchline, 9 October 2026)

  • six penalties conceded, after five against Maidenhead, both within the club’s benchmark of eight or fewer
  • 108 tackles completed, 48 of them dominant, with eight missed: a 93% completion rate
  • 19 points conceded across the first two league games

He was less happy with the lineout. “We took our foot off the gas after half-time, leaving another two or three tries out there,” he wrote.

He also praised the academy 1st XV’s 31-24 away win in the opening round of the National Cup, “a proud result for the pathway that has produced so many senior players”.

  • Tag rugby for primary pupils. The club hosted a Year 3 and 4 tag rugby festival for local primary schools at the Paddock on Monday 5 October. It followed a Year 5 and 6 festival in September.
