Most vacancies in the Sevenoaks district never reach a national job board. The largest employers here advertise on their own systems, and the portal Kent schools have used for years has just changed its name. Below is where each of them actually posts, along with our own listings. Every link was checked on 5 September 2026.

Where the district's employers advertise

Sevenoaks District Council

The council's vacancies are not on its own website. They sit on a separate People First board at sevenoaks.jobs.people-first.com, which is the link its careers page points to. The council describes itself as "one of the area's biggest employers" and says staff are based in Sevenoaks and in Sundridge. It recruits separately for polling station and count work through its elections job opportunities page, which only fills up when an election is called. Kent County Council

Social care, highways, libraries and children's services roles across the county go to jobsearch.kent.gov.uk. KCC is a much bigger employer than the district council, and a good share of what it advertises in this corner of Kent is based in Sevenoaks town or reachable from it.

Schools: Kent-Teach is now UK Teach

This is the change worth knowing about. Kent-Teach, the county portal that carried almost every Kent school vacancy, now sends visitors straight to UK Teach: kent-teach.com returns a permanent redirect to ukteach.com/locations/kent, and its older inner pages no longer load at all. If you have a bookmark or a saved job alert on the old address, it will not work.

The replacement keeps the same town-level filtering. Sevenoaks vacancies are at ukteach.com/locations/kent/jobs/sevenoaks and Swanley at the equivalent Swanley page, covering teaching and support roles alike. There is no Edenbridge page, so Edenbridge schools show up under the wider Kent search or the distance filter.

NHS

Sevenoaks Hospital on Hospital Road is a community hospital run by Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, with outpatient clinics and an urgent treatment centre open 8am to 8pm every day of the year. Its roles, and those at the acute trusts within commuting distance, are advertised on NHS Jobs. The NHS Jobs search for 10 miles around Sevenoaks is the quickest way in. Sevenoaks School

The independent school on High Street employs around 500 staff, which makes it one of the largest single employers in the town. It is not only teaching posts: the school lists administration and professional support, IT and operations, its sports centre, health centre, estates department, performing arts centre and summer programmes. There is no Jobcentre in Sevenoaks

The district has no Jobcentre Plus office of its own, and which one you are sent to depends on your postcode. The DWP office finder returns:

  • TN13, TN14 and TN8 (Sevenoaks town, Otford, Edenbridge and the villages): Tonbridge Jobcentre Plus, Crown Buildings, Bradford Street, Tonbridge TN9 1DX.
  • BR8 (Swanley and Hextable): Dartford Jobcentre Plus, 61 Lowfield Street, Dartford DA1 1JY.

How the local jobs market looks

In July 2026, 1,665 people in the district were claiming unemployment related benefits, the highest monthly figure since January 2022. As a share of working-age residents that is 2.3 per cent, still the lowest rate of Kent's twelve districts. The year's increase sits entirely outside the 25 to 49 age group: claims from 18 to 24 year olds are up by about a third, and the over-50s by about a quarter.
