A free food festival on the Vine, Sevenoaks Town at home, a Sunday tea for the over-55s, and the Leigh road closures for the half marathon.

A new free food festival takes over the Vine Gardens on Saturday, the main date in the Sevenoaks diary this weekend. Sevenoaks Town are at home in the afternoon, and on Sunday the district council hosts a tea for the over-55s at the Bat & Ball Centre.

Two things to plan around: the Tonbridge Half Marathon closes the roads through Leigh on Sunday morning, and the Westerham mast vote closes on Friday afternoon. Details below.

  • Kent Biodiversity and Regenerative Food Festival, free. A first-year festival on the Vine Gardens, TN13 3UH, 10.30am to 4pm. Expect organic and regenerative growers, bakers, makers, street food, crafts, charities and demonstrations, with live music all day. The organiser is Regenerative Foods, with support from Sevenoaks Town Team. (Sevenoaks Town Council, event listing)
  • Saturday markets. The Bligh’s Saturday Market and the High Street Saturday Market both run 9am to 4pm, a few minutes’ walk from the festival. (Sevenoaks Town Council, Markets)
  • Football: Sevenoaks Town v Ashford United. At the Bourne Stadium, 3pm, on the club’s published fixture list as we reported last week. The Isthmian League’s own table has the Oaks seventh in the South East Division, on 12 points from eight games. (Isthmian League, Sevenoaks Town)
  • Rugby: 2nd XV at Knole Paddock. Sevenoaks RFC’s 2nd XV are at home to Heathfield and Waldron. The 1st XV, who beat Maidenhead 68-12 last Saturday, are away at Wimbledon. The club has not listed kick-off times on its fixtures page. (Sevenoaks RFC)
  • Riverhill Himalayan Gardens. Open 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, with yeti spotting in the Chestnut Woods from 2pm to 4pm. The gardens are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. (Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, daily calendar) Our Riverhill guide has prices.
  • The Gruffalo at Knole. The Gruffalo Art Adventure, twelve giant sculptures in the park, runs daily to 1 November, 10am to 5pm. (National Trust, Knole events)

Planning your weekend

Roads. The Tonbridge Half Marathon closes roads in and around Leigh from 8.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday. They include the B2027 High Street, Ensfield Road, Lower Green, Hildenborough Road, Tonbridge Road and Penshurst Road. (Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices for the half marathon, 11 September 2026, via the Public Notice Portal) The A21 northbound slips at Chipstead also close on Friday night, 11pm to 6am. Trains. Saturday is clear on Southeastern. On Sunday, Charing Cross stopping trains from Sevenoaks do not call at Lewisham, and the Thameslink to Blackfriars runs via Beckenham Junction. Our train times page has the detail.
