ABBA Gold bring their two-hour hits show to the Stag on Friday night, and Sevenoaks RFC are at home to Bracknell on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the Stag hosts a family concert built around a flying-carpet trip round the world.
The thing to plan around is the railway. No trains run to or from Charing Cross or Waterloo East on Saturday or Sunday. Details below.
Friday 9 October
- ABBA Gold at the Stag. The tribute band return for a two-hour live show of the hits at 7.30pm. (The Stag, what’s on)
- Films at the Stag. Sense and Sensibility (U) at 1pm; Digger (15), with Tom Cruise, at 1.15pm and 8pm; The Yellow Tie (15) at 4.30pm; The Uprising (15), with Andrew Garfield, at 4.45pm; and Verity (15) at 8.15pm. (The Stag, what’s on)
- The Gruffalo at Knole. The Gruffalo Art Adventure, twelve giant sculptures in the park, runs every day from 10am to 5pm until 1 November. (National Trust, Knole events)
Saturday 10 October
- Rugby: Sevenoaks v Bracknell. The men’s 1st XV are at home at Knole Paddock, kick-off 3pm. They beat Maidenhead 68-12 at home on 26 September and won 47-7 at Wimbledon last Saturday. The club is running a match-day lunch: bar from noon, lunch at 1pm, £30 for members and £40 for non-members, with a free pint or glass of wine. Book on the club’s event page. - #InMyDanceEra at the Stag. Harlequins Theatre School’s annual show, at 1pm and 5pm. (The Stag, what’s on)
- Saturday markets. The Bligh’s Saturday Market and the High Street Saturday Market both run from 9am to 4pm. (Sevenoaks Town Council, Markets)

Sunday 11 October
- Around the World on the Amazing Magic Carpet. A family concert at the Stag at 4pm. The Stag describes it as an annual sell-out with a lively musical programme. (The Stag, what’s on)
- Shaun the Sheep at the Stag. The Halloween-themed Aardman film is on at 1.30pm. (The Stag, what’s on)
- Swanley market. The general market trades in Swanley town centre, as it does every Sunday and Wednesday. (Sevenoaks District Council, Markets)
- Riverhill. Its calendar lists the gardens open on Saturday; it closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Check the daily calendar before going on Sunday.
Planning your weekend
Trains. On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October no trains run to or from Charing Cross or Waterloo East. Sevenoaks stopping trains run to and from London Victoria instead. Our train times page has what runs.
Roads. The M26 eastbound closes from junction 5 on the M25 to junction 2A on Friday night, from 11pm to 5.30am. The Dartford Crossing has overnight tunnel closures on both nights. Our roadworks page has the full list.
