Edenbridge Town Council has finished a community garden on the High Street, where the old police station stood, with new seats, grass and shrubs.
Edenbridge has a new community garden on its High Street, on the land where the old police station once stood. Edenbridge Town Council says the work is now complete.
The land was gifted to the council in 2025. The council calls it a small space, but hopes it “makes a lovely difference to our High Street”. (Edenbridge Town Council, A small community garden for all to enjoy)
What has been done
The council’s Grounds Team has:
- levelled the ground to make the area more accessible
- repointed the existing wall
- laid fresh grass
- added extra seating and a new litter bin
- planted shrubs, which will grow and establish over time
The council hopes residents and visitors will use it to “take a moment, sit down, relax and enjoy their surroundings”.
What it means for you
The garden is open for anyone to use. It also remains home to the town’s flagpole, so its first big occasion is close.
- Wednesday 11 November, 11am: a two-minute silence at the flagpole, with the Last Post to mark the start. All residents are invited. (Edenbridge Town Council, Edenbridge Remembers)
- Sunday 8 November: the Remembrance march is from Leathermarket car park at 10.30am, to the old War Memorial Hospital. Roads are closed from 10.15am to midday. Our Remembrance guide has the other services in the district.
