FIFA president Gianni Infantino is Edenbridge Bonfire's 11m effigy for 2026. He burns on Saturday 7 November, with roads shut at 6pm and fireworks at 8.30pm.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino is this year’s celebrity guy at Edenbridge Bonfire. The 11-metre figure will be brought down by gunpowder and flames on Saturday night.
Edenbridge Bonfire Society has added him to its gallery of past guys, labelled “Gianni Infantino, 2026”. (Edenbridge Bonfire Society, Our Celebrity Guys)
He follows Sir Keir Starmer last year and Ticketmaster in 2024. (Irish News, Keir Starmer effigy; ITV Meridian, Ticketmaster guy)
What is on the figure
The society’s photographs show a giant Infantino in a blue suit, grinning, with the jokes painted on. They include:
- a trophy marked “Piece of Shirt Prize”, held in one hand under a small head of Donald Trump
- a book called “Presidents for Dummies”
- a “Red Card Hotline” card in his jacket pocket
- banknotes tucked behind his ears
- a wheelie bin marked TN8, Edenbridge’s postcode, with a shirt, a traffic light and a green sack
FIFA gave Donald Trump its first Peace Prize at the World Cup draw in December 2025, and Infantino presented it. (Fox Sports, FIFA Peace Prize)
The bin has a more local feel. Wheelie bins replaced sacks across the district on 12 October, and green bags are no longer emptied. Our bin days page has the detail. The society’s website does not explain the choice or the jokes.
What happens on Saturday
The celebrity guy burns alongside a Guy Fawkes of the same size. The society’s first parade was in 1928, and the celebrity guy is now a 25-year tradition. (Edenbridge Bonfire Society; Edenbridge Bonfire Society, the event)
The procession has more than 1,000 flaming torches and around 20 floats, walking parties, visiting bonfire societies and marching bands. It is led by the Bishop of Bonfire and the society’s effigies of Guy Fawkes, General Wolfe and Anne Boleyn.
What it means for you
