HMRC has petitioned to wind up Knockholt Properties of Halstead, with a High Court hearing on 9 September. Two Edenbridge beauty firms and a Westerham accountancy also entered liquidation in August.

HM Revenue and Customs has asked the High Court to wind up Knockholt Properties Limited, a company based at Oaktree Farm on London Road, Halstead. The petition is listed to be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice on 9 September at 10.30am. (The Gazette, Petitions to Wind Up (Companies), Knockholt Properties Limited, 27 August 2026)

The petition was presented on 16 July and published in The Gazette, the official public record, on 27 August. Anyone intending to appear at the hearing must give notice by 4pm on 8 September. (The Gazette, notice 5198328)

A petition is not a winding-up order. The company remains listed as active at Companies House, and a petition can be dismissed, withdrawn or settled before the hearing. The court decides on 9 September, or at any adjourned date, whether the company is wound up. (Companies House, Knockholt Properties Limited, company number 07905277)

Knockholt Properties was incorporated in January 2012. Its registered activities are the sale of motor vehicles and the letting and operating of its own or leased property. Companies House shows its accounts for the year to 31 January 2025, due by 31 October 2025, as overdue. (Companies House, Knockholt Properties Limited)

Two Edenbridge beauty firms enter liquidation together

GGBrows Limited, a beauty business trading from Unit 7 at the Edenbridge Trade Centre on Hever Road, went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 19 August. Its sister company at the same unit, GGCosmetics Training Limited, entered liquidation the same day. GGBrows was incorporated in March 2018 and is registered for hairdressing and other beauty treatment. The training company followed a year later, registered for education, and was briefly named GG Brows Cosmetics Training Limited. Rikki Burton and Jasmine Baxter of Anderson Brookes were appointed joint liquidators of both by the members and creditors. A creditors’ voluntary liquidation is started by a company’s own members when it cannot pay its debts; the liquidator’s job is to realise the assets for creditors. The registers record nothing about the reasons in this case, and no statement from the companies has been published in The Gazette.

Westerham accountancy firm winds up

Avant Accounting Solutions Limited, of Lodges Wood Oast, Goodley Stock Road, Westerham, entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 29 July. The company is registered for accounting and auditing activities. Scott Milne of Corporate Money Worries Business Rescue and Recovery Limited was appointed liquidator by the members and creditors. Follow-ups from July’s notices

Axminster Refurbishments Limited, the construction company at The Old Barn, off Wood Street, Swanley Village, confirmed the appointment of Ben Stanyon and Mark Boast of Opus Restructuring as joint liquidators on 30 July. The creditors’ meeting that led to it was in July’s insolvency roundup. (The Gazette, Appointment of Liquidators, Axminster Refurbishments Limited, 4 August 2026)

The two Biggin Hill aviation firms, JetMS Completions and Waypoint Aerotec, also continued through the process in August. We reported the liquidators’ appointment and Waypoint’s statement of affairs, which showed the company owing £486,584 with £11,443 available to pay it.

Solvent closures, which are not insolvencies

Two further notices look similar but record something different: members’ voluntary liquidations, where the directors formally declare the company can pay everyone in full and choose to close it.

Cannoncourt Limited, which traded from 52 Marlborough Crescent, Sevenoaks, resolved to wind up voluntarily on 12 August. The company was incorporated in January 1992 and is registered for property letting and management consultancy. The notice records that the directors “have made a declaration of solvency and it is expected that all creditors will be paid in full”. Creditors are asked to prove any debts by 7 September. Scaleka Limited, of 3 East Point, High Street, Seal, has been in members’ voluntary liquidation since January. Its liquidator gave notice in August of a first and final distribution to creditors, who must prove debts by 10 September; here too the directors declared the company solvent. What these notices do and do not tell you

Everything above is taken from The Gazette and Companies House, the official public records. They record the legal steps, not the human story: the registers say nothing about why a company failed, what happens to staff, or whether a business trades on under new ownership. Where a company disputes a petition or makes a statement, we will report it.

Liquidation is also not the same as a shop shutting its doors on the day of the notice, and a winding-up petition is a step in a court process, not its conclusion. The government’s guidance on the routes and what they mean for creditors is at GOV.UK: options when a company is insolvent.
